Happy April! We're already more than a week into the month, and the spring energy across Kansas City is undeniable. The trees are blooming, the weather is finally warming up, and the calendar is packed with great events for the rest of April.

As your local real estate team, we believe loving where you live is about more than just your house. It is about being part of a vibrant community. To help you make the most of the rest of this beautiful month, we have put together a guide to some of the best events happening across the KC metro.

The Return of Farmers Markets

Nothing says spring like a Saturday morning at a local farmers market. April is when many of the best markets in the area officially open for the season, and they are one of our favorite ways to spend a weekend in Kansas City.

Overland Park Farmers Market
This market is consistently ranked one of the best in the nation. It typically opens in mid to late April at the downtown pavilion. You will find fresh produce, local meats, baked goods, and usually live music as well. It is also located in the heart of Downtown Overland Park, one of the most walkable and community focused areas in the metro.

The City Market in the River Market
This market is open year round, but the energy really picks up in April as more farmers and vendors return with their spring harvest. It is a classic Kansas City experience and a great way to spend a morning exploring one of the city's most historic neighborhoods.

Parkville Farmers Market
Located in charming downtown Parkville, this market usually kicks off its main season in late April. The setting along the river and the historic downtown streets make it a beautiful place to shop local and enjoy a relaxed Saturday morning.

Lee’s Summit Farmers Market
Another fantastic suburban market that really brings the community together. Opening day is typically in early April and it is always a lively way to start the weekend in downtown Lee’s Summit.

Many of these markets are located in neighborhoods people love living near. Areas like Downtown Overland Park, Brookside, and Parkville offer the kind of community atmosphere that makes weekends feel special, with local shops, parks, and events just steps away.

Local Tip

If you are heading to a farmers market, consider making a morning of it. Grab coffee from a nearby local shop, walk the neighborhood, and stop into a few small businesses while you are there. Some of the best parts of Kansas City are discovered this way.

Spring Festivals and Outdoor Fun

April is also a great time to get outside and enjoy some of Kansas City's classic seasonal events.

Royals Baseball at Kauffman Stadium
April means baseball season is underway. Grab your blue and head to The K for a home game. A spring game at the stadium is a great family outing or a fun night with friends, and there is nothing quite like the energy of baseball returning to the city after winter.

Brookside Art Annual
Usually held the last weekend in April or the first weekend in May, this is one of Kansas City’s premier art fairs. The streets of the Brookside neighborhood fill with incredible art, great food, and thousands of visitors. It is the perfect way to kick off the art fair season.

Fountain Day
In mid April, Kansas City celebrates its fountain heritage by turning on the city’s public fountains for the season. It is a simple but beautiful tradition that signals the city is officially welcoming spring.

Why We Love KC in the Spring

Events like these are the heartbeat of our community. They are part of what makes Kansas City such an incredible place to live. When we help our clients find a home, we are also helping them find a community that fits their lifestyle. That might mean living near a farmers market, having easy access to the ballpark, or being part of a neighborhood with a thriving arts scene.

Spring is also one of the busiest seasons in real estate across Kansas City. If you are curious about what homes are selling for in your neighborhood or thinking about making a move later this year, we are always happy to be a resource.

If you are considering buying or selling this spring, we would love to help you find your perfect spot in the city we are proud to call home.
